Our Team
We are here to help make your experience of dentistry & visiting the dentist as pleasant as possible. If there is anything we can do for you please ask.
Reception

Greeting you with a warm welcome on arrival or on the telephone will (ordinarily) be one of our friendly, experienced receptionists, Amanda, Anita & Jacqui (see below). They are here to help you with any aspect of your dental practice visit, from booking appointments to payments & payment methods. Also they can give advice & guidance on our membership plans and are able to liaise with our entire dental team if there are any queries you may have. They can show you our dental and oral hygiene products to help you with your home dental care.
Nurses

Our nursing team are highly experienced and qualified. Julia & Jacqui each have over 30 years of experience in caring for dental patients. Maxine has had many years of experience working with children in the dental environment as Senior nurse in Orthodontics at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport. Jacqui has a qualification in Oral Hygiene & takes an active role in educating our patients on oral hygiene and dietary issues. Julia also works at Bristol Dental Hospital, where she assists dental students in developing their clinical and inter–personal skills.
Both Jacqui & Julia along with our sedation dentist, Helen Mannion–Jones BDS BSc(hons) make up our SEDATION Team. They are here to make your visits as comfortable & as pleasant as possible.
Dentists

The practice is owned in partnership between Jonathan Jones (BDS) and Nicholas Williams (BDS). Please feel free to call us Jonathan and Nick. In addition, Jonathan’s wife Helen Mannion–Jones (BDS BSc(Hons)) carries out dentistry under sedation for our very nervous patients. (See section on Sedation for details)
We are registered with the General Dental Council.
We are members of the British Dental Association.
Nick & Jonathan are members of a national research group called the PREP Panel. The Prep panel is a select group of dentists, run by the University of Birmingham that researches and evaluates the use of brand new state of the art materials, (usually before they are launched to market) in the dental practice environment. This allows us to assess the best materials for use in our patients and as a whole the PREP panel publishes its results to advise other dentists on the use of the materials assessed. See Below for current study/trial.
We use a range of modern state of the art materials (including the new All Ceramic Zirconia Crowns and Bridges) and “tried and tested” traditional materials. We will choose the best material, after taking into account the situation, your cosmetic & functional requirements and cost to you.
Nick has presented lectures on the use of All Ceramic Zirconia Crowns & Bridges to several groups of dentists.
Nick & Jonathan have always enjoyed sharing their knowledge with fellow dentists & students. As a result, Nick & Jonathan are both part-time Clinical Teaching Fellows at the University Of Bristol’s Dental Hospital.
LIME TREE DENTAL PRACTICE trials gum disease prediction technology
Are you worried about your gums?
LIME TREE DENTAL PRACTICE in Portishead is proud to announce that it is one of 10 dental practices nationwide participating in an important trial involving PreViser, a new and innovative technology for scientifically monitoring and managing gum health. PreViser predicts a patient’s risk of developing gum disease and consequential tooth loss.
Gum disease (periodontitis) is a very common condition that most of us will suffer from during our lives.10% of the population are particularly susceptible. It tends not to be painful so we may not know we have it, and yet it is the biggest cause of tooth loss in adults. Evidence has been gathering for some time about theimportanceofthe healthof your gums to your overall well being. It's about far more than just your teeth falling out, although that's bad enough.People with healthy gums have been shown to have a lower risk of stroke, heart attack, rheumatoid arthritis and better diabetic control.
Here at the Lime Tree Dental Practice we are dedicated to the idea that we can help you to look after your teeth for life. Taking part in this important trial reflects our commitment to preventive lifetime care. Our participation in this trial/study comes from our association with the “Product Research and Evaluation by Practitioners (PREP) Panel”, established by Professor Trevor Burke of University of Birmingham. The PREP panel was set up to evaluate new dental materials in a general practice environment and thus helps keeps Lime Tree at the cutting edge of new technology and materials.
PreViser takes data from your dental examination and using a scientifically validated algorithm accurately predicts tooth loss, calculates scores for your risk of periodontal disease (1-5) and current gum health (1-100).What is more, it can be used over time for both us and you to see how you are progressing and to take remedial measures where needed.
The aim of the 12 month trial is to assess the impact of PreViser on gum health, and on patient motivation and their understanding of the disease.
If you would be interested in participating in the PreViser trial at Lime Tree Dental Practice, please give us a call on 01275 840234.New patients welcome!
